Just like AdSense for content, with AdSense for mobile Google matches ads to the content of your site — in this case, your mobile website. You’ll earn money whenever your mobile website’s visitors click on your ads. AdSense for mobile is available in a limited number of locations.
In addition to our standard program policies, publishers wishing to participate in AdSense for mobile must also comply with the following policies specific to mobile-compliant webpages.
Website Requirements:
Webpages must be mobile-compliant and developed with a server-side scripting language such as PHP; AdSense for mobile ad code will not display ads on standard webpages.
Mobile Webpage Markup Languages:
- wml (WAP 1.x.)
- xhtml (WAP 2.0)
- chtml (imode, etc.)
Ad Placement and Behavior
- Only one AdSense for mobile ad unit may be displayed per mobile webpage.
- A “double” ad unit can only be placed on the bottom of the page, but may appear above the page’s footer (e.g. navigational links, copyright messages, etc.).
- Google ads displayed on a publisher’s mobile-compliant webpage may not be modified or obscured in any way.
- After a user click, display of the advertiser’s landing page may not be interrupted or prevented in any way. For instance, publishers may not display their own interstitial pages before taking users to the advertiser’s website.

Like OS X, Linux is rarely thought of as an operating system for hard core gamers. Sure, you can use WINE and CrossOver to run Windows games on Linux. But if you don’t need to run BioShock to be happy, there are thousands of free games available for Linux.
Fedora Games is a new LiveDVD based on Fedora 8, which was released last week. It comes packed with games. Lots and lots of games. You’ve got your card games, flight simulators, strategy games, arcade games, puzzle games, and so on.
While many Linux games are clones of popular Windows games with clever titles like Freeciv (A Civilization-clone) and OpenArena (an open-source package for Quake III Arena), there are also a few original goodies in there like The Battle for Wesnoth and Tremulous.
To run Fedora Games, you just need to download the disc image and burn it to DVD. You can then boot your PC from the DVD and start playing right away, or install Fedora Games to your hard drive.
GameBoy Advance emulator for your hacked iPhone

gpSPhone is a GameBoy Advance emulator for the iPhone and iPod Touch. To use it, of course, you’ll need an iPhone that’s been hacked to use third-party apps, but that’s a small price to pay for quality time with such memorable Nintendo classics as Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga and Mega Man Battle Network. The emulator was co-developed by the guy that made gpSPhone’s cousin, a classic NES emulator.
Once you have gpSPhone installed, assuming you’re willing to jump through the hoops required to unlock your iPhone, you’ll need to get your hands on some games. Since the iPhone doesn’t have a GBA cartridge receptable (those short-sighted Apple engineers!), you’ll need to grab ROMs instead. ROMs are firmware images of cartridge games that can be downloaded and copied to the iPhone for use with the emulator. Only watch it, distributing copyrighted games in this fashion is mostly illegal.
That said, there are quite a few home-brew games available as ROMs, like our new favorite, Qwak. Now, if only an Amiga emulator would show up on the iPhone so we can play Lemmings.

Ever look in a crossword puzzle dictionary? It’s not a dictionary in the traditional sense, with words and definitions. Rather, it connects words, places, ideas in all sorts of ways that could only possibly be useful if you’re working on a difficult puzzle or studying for the SATs.
But if you think about it, a search engine kind of does the same thing. So it’s not too surprising to see Yahoo! and the New York Times partnering on a special edition crossword puzzle to show off Yahoo!’s new Search Assist service.
Under each clue is a “search for hint” button. Click on it and you get a ton of possible results in the little blue box below the crossword puzzle. There are a few hints that actually don’t work very well in a search engine, but for the most part your answers are just a click away making this both the easiest and most boring crossword puzzle ever.
Google GDrive coming soon

Ever since Google catapulted itself into the email arena by offering way more online storage space for email than any of its competitors, rumors have been flying that Google was going to find another user for all that server space: online data storage. In fact, some folks have been crafty enough to turn GMail’s 5+ GB of storage into a virtual online hard drive. But the official Google hard drive or GDrive has remained in the realm of speculation.
Now the Wall Street Journal reports that a GDrive is coming, although it’s not clear exactly what the service will actually be called. Apparently for a while the project was called simply “my stuff.”
If the Journal is correct, the new service will let users store photos, music, movies, Office documents and other media online where they can be accessed from any computer. Google will probably offer a certain amount of storage for free and then charge for more space, which shouldn’t come as any surprise because that’s exactly what the company is doing with its PicasaWeb/email plan. And it’s exactly what all of the other companies in this space, like Box.net or Omnidrive do.
But that raises an interesting point. It doesn’t sound like Google is going to offer anything that you can’t already get today from an existing service. The only thing that really makes the mythical GDrive special is that it would be coming from Google, which means that many people who have never heard of Box.net might actually use it. So don’t be surprised if Google launches its new online storage service and you’re less than impressed with the amount of free space you get. On the other hand, Google is also well positioned to squash the competition by offering a ridiculous amount of free storage, integration with Google Docs, and other services that could make the GDrive hard to beat.

What is Web Widgets

They are derived from the idea of reusable code that has existed for years. Nowadays other terms used to describe web widgets including: gadget, badge, module, capsule, snippet, mini and flake. Web widgets often but not always use DHTML, Adobe Flash or JavaScript programming languages.
Widgets
Embeddable chunks of code have existed since the start of the World Wide Web. Web developers have long sought and used third party code chunks in their pages. It could be said that the original web widgets were the link counters and advertising banners that grew up alongside the early web. Later, ad and affiliate networks used code widgets for distribution purposes.
A widget is anything that can be embedded within a page of HTML, i.e. a web page. A widget adds some content to that page that is not static. Generally widgets are third party originated, though they can be home made. Widgets are also known as modules, snippets, and plug-ins. Widgets are written in JavaScript, Flash or any other scripting languages that will be run when the page is called.
Rich media, interactive entertainment widgets were first syndicated in large volume in 2001 by miniclip. Widgets are now commonplace and are used by bloggers, social network users, auction sites and owners of personal web sites. They exist on home page sites such as iGoogle, Netvibes, Pageflakes, SpringWidgets and yourminis. Widgets are used as a distribution method by ad networks such as Google’s AdSense, by media sites such as Flickr, by video sites such as YouTube and by hundreds of other organizations.
Applications can be integrated within a third party website by the placement of a small snippet of code. This is becoming a distribution or marketing channel for many companies. The code brings in ‘live’ content – advertisements, links, images – from a third party site without the web site owner having to update.
Widget destinations
End users can utilize Web Widgets to enhance a number of web-based hosts, or drop targets. Categories of drop targets include social networks, blogs, wikis and personal homepages. Although end users primarily use Web Widgets to enhance their personal web experiences, or the web experiences of visitors to their personal sites, corporations can potentially use Web Widgets to improve their web sites using syndicated content and functionality from third party providers.
Widget management systems
Widget management systems offer a method of managing widgets that works on any web page, such as a blog or social networking home page. Many blog systems like Wordpress or Movable Type come with built in widget management systems as plug-ins. Users can obtain widgets and other widget management tools from widget gallery sites such as Widgetbox.

What to Do When You are Kicked Out of Adsense
Written on 20 November 2007 by adminI see threads here all the time from people who are either concerned with getting the “fraudulent clicks” letter, or they’ve gotten them and now want to know how to get back in.
I am one of a handful of people (that I’m aware of) who have had my account knocked out for invalid clicks and been reinstated a couple of months later.
So, here’s a little tip guide primer on what to expect and what to do.
A few things first:
A) You will not receive any check that is currently unprocessed. Consider that payment forfeited (and don’t threaten google with a lawsuit to recover it - it will just make things much, much worse).
B) Do confess to them any and all circumstances where you might have screwed up. If you didn’t screw up and are genuinely baffled you will need your server logs to locate suspicious activity. I highly recommend getting click tracking software to monitor your ads for exactly this scenario. If you don’t have server logs or tracking software, YOU are at fault by default.
C) The account disabling was both automated and then verified manually. Google examines the location of where clicks were coming from. If they see that too many clicks are from the same geographic area as where they send your check (or the ip you log in from) that sets off a red flag. Competitors clicking on your ads is something Google is well aware of and can track as well (they know their geographic area too)
15 Common Mistakes that Violate Google Adsense TOS

There are well defined terms of service to strictly adhere to when participating in the program. On my visit through sites and forums, I daily notice several instances of misuse of Adsense ads. So here a few helpful Google Adsense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These adsense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.
1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.
2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.
3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.
4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google Adsense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.
5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.
6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.
7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.
8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.
9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.
10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.
11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!
12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.
13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches - Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.
14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.
15. Ensure you Language is Supported - Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.
Update: 16. Maximum 2 referral button per product per page - With the launch of the google adsense referral program, you are allowed to put only 2 referral buttons for adsense referral, adwords referral, Google pack and Firefox with google toolbar referral.
17. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. - Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even Adsense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use Adsense ads as alternate urls.
18. Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors. More.
